Handicap Summer Swim Series
Ocean Swims – Handicap Race Series 2025–2026 Season
After 10 races across a summer of changing ocean conditions, varied course lengths, and a strong field of swimmers, the Omanu Ocean Swim Handicap Series has wrapped up with some impressive results.
Congratulations to Nicole Head, our overall series winner. Nicole not only performed consistently but was also the only swimmer to attend all 10 races, proving that in a handicap series, commitment and attendance really do count.
Finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th were Cole Burmester, Mackenzie Jury and Daniel Pearce, each completing seven swims during the series. It also leaves us wondering how swimmers such as Emily O’Driscoll, Braith Swanberg and Anthony Gadsbey might have placed if they had competed in more than their five races.
Patrol Competition The Patrol Swims may need a little extra motivation next season to boost numbers, but the results clearly showed Patrol 6, led by Patrol Captain Briar Parker, taking the honours. Patrol 6 secured two of the three nominated patrol swims, with strong team efforts from Briar, Cole, Mackenzie, Emil, Braith, Paul, Dave and Aubrey. Well done team. Patrol 5, led by Christian Richardson won the first Patrol swim during Race #3, presenting seven swimmers. Well done!
A huge thank you goes to everyone who helped make the series possible by volunteering with course set-up, water safety, and recording results. Special thanks to Sandy Boubee, Daniel Pearce, Michelle Kalma, Trish Mau and Dean Jury for their ongoing support behind the scenes.
Over $500 worth of Omanu Surf Shack vouchers were awarded across the series. Please join us in thanking Grace and Elliot for their generous sponsorship and continued support.
The Surf Sport Committee is already looking at ways to make the series bigger and even better for the 2026–2027 season, so keep an eye on our social media for next season’s dates, rules and updates.
