REGISTRATIONS FOR THE 2025/26 SUMMER SEASON ARE COMING SOON!
The Cadets Academy (previously called Board Academy) includes a Sunday Junior Surf session as well as Tuesday and Friday evening sessions.
The Sunday sessions will have a Lifeguarding focus with and introduction to skills around rescues, use of IRBs and other lifeguard equipment. The Tuesday and Friday sessions with be water focused and working on board skills transitioning children to a Surf Lifesaving paddle board (foam and fibreglass) as well as broader ocean skills. This programme is a stepping stone on the pathway to Ocean athletes or Rookie lifeguards.
The Academy is available to those aged 9 (as at 30 September 2025) up to those who are 14yrs.
To be part of the Cadets Academy your child must be:
- a fully paid member prior to attending.
- have achieved their 200m Safety Vest Test prior to attending.
- have a parent in attendance as water safety or on the beach at all times during the session.
Membership Fees 2025/26 Season
We ask all our parents of Junior Surf participants to sign up and be a registered member of Omanu Beach Surf Lifesaving Club for the season. We have done this via a 2025/26 Family Season Membership and the parents will be Associate Members of the club (or may also be Lifeguards, or Masters competitors).
All Junior Surf members must be accompanied by a club member (parent/guardian/caregiver).
2025/26 Summer Season Membership Options:
- Family Membership (1-2 Adults, 1 Child) = $85
- Family Membership (1-2 Adults, max 3 Children*) = $125
*the children can be in different programmes - Junior Surf, Lifeguarding or Surf Sports
Board Academy training fees = $85 (this covers up to the three available sessions per week)
