Announcing the appointment of Lead Sport Advisor - Cory Hutchings

3 Aug

Omanu SLSC is incredibly pleased to announce that surf legend, Cory Hutchings will be joining the club in the capacity of Lead Sports Advisor.

Working closely with the Sports Committee and new General Manager role, Cory will be leading the charge in training and developing our athletes while helping to structure a new sports program for Omanu across our Oceans, Senior and Masters Athletes.

Many of you will know what a big deal this is for our Club. Cory is one of New Zealand's most celebrated surf athletes. A former professional in the Kelloggs Surf League, Cory won the biannual World Surf Ironman title in 1998, 2000 and 2002 as well as holding the New Zealand title for more than a decade.

For the past 12 years, Cory has been head coach at the Kaiaponi Waikanae SLSC, where he has shaped the careers of a number of talented athletes, many who have gone on to National honours under his continued mentorship. With Cory's transition to Omanu, we welcome the opportunity to forge new links and friendships with his former club and the development opportunities this will bring.

Cory is an incredible addition to Omanu SLSC and we look forward to him working with, and helping to develop and grow the Club's sports program.
